Well, let me tell you the story of how it all began...
The Medical Technology board examinations were conducted in the cities of Manila, Davao, Cebu and Baguio last September 5 and 6, 2009. Yours truly was assigned and accepted at the 5th floor of MLQU, room 514 seat number 11. She and some of her classmates were assigned in the same room, and so was together during the exams.
September 5 was the first day of the licensure exams. The subjects were Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology / Parasitology and Clinical Microscopy (Urinalysis and other body fluids). The exams went by without unusual occurences, except for the fact that she actually fell asleep for the better part of 15 minutes in each and every exam (due to an unwanted side-effect of a certain memory enhancer churva!).
September 6 happened to be a Sunday, and the subjects were Hematology, Blood Banking / Serology and Histopathologic Techniques and Medical Technology Laws, Ethics. Nothing unusual happened... to me. But a schoolmate was just so unlucky that he was late for a mere 10 minutes, and his examination was cancelled. 
So there. All that was left of me was a broken pencil (broken by me, for good luck ~an urban legend says that if you want to have good luck on board exams, break the pencil you used right after!)
I actually bought a set of 3 Mongol pencils, and I used only one. I gave the other two to charity (to public elementary school students, who will, one day, take an examination like mine.)
A few days (which actually felt like years to me) later, a very excited former co-intern of mine sent me this text message: "Sa lahat po ng nag-pray for me, maraming salamat po! ~Edelene Khae Torres, RMT." I was flabbergasted because I knew the results were to be released on September 10! I then excitedly asked her if she saw my name on the much-awaited list, and she said yes. Silly me forgot the power of technology, and the results were already released on the website on the night of September 9!

Anyways, I'm just sooo glad I passed. What's more? BFF sent me this text message:
"Kristine Bernadette Mendoza, RMT. 
Naks, I'm soo proud."
That really made my day. *wipes tears*
So there. After all important people have been informed of the good news, Mom set me to work. She made me clean up all the reviewers which have been occupying a better half of my bed for almost two months, blah blah blah...
FAST FORWARD TO A FEW DAYS LATER:
I am now a trainee at St. Paul's Hospital, a target of mine ever since I was a student. The catch? IT'S A FEW EFFIN' STEPS AWAY FROM HOME! Isn't that suh-weet? I get to go and eat lunch at home. Plus, I was tied to an 8am to 5pm, Monday-Friday schedule, which really made my day. The staff oriented me on how to use the various machines, the ECG, the CBC machine, the Chemistry machine. I am just soo happy.
Now, little did I know that Papa Jesus really did had plans for me. A staff was bound to undergo a Microbiology training program at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine. This staff, Ma'am Thet, was actually having second thoughts about it. She asked me once about what section I really wanted to specialize in, and I told her that I wanted to specialize in Microbiology. She then excitedly asked me if I wanted to undergo the training, because she had other plans, and I said yes. So she hurried to the Medical Director, and said that I will take her slot. The Medical Director said yes, and poof! I was now bound for training.
This is my room assignment at the Residence Hall.
And these are my keys.
Can you believe it? MY KEYS. And living quite far from home? Amazing, neh? Plus, I never heard anything derogatory from my very protective Mother about me going away for an almost entire month.
